Addressing a conclave organised by an Hindi daily in New Delhi, Shah said the party had extended his term as party chief by six months as workers were preoccupied with elections. “Once the 2019 Lok Sabha elections conclude, there will be election for the party president as per the BJP Constitution. There will no change in the Constitution,” he said, asserting that the party would retain power in the three BJPruled states — Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, which went to the polls recently He also ruled out running for the . post of the prime minister in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, saying “There are at least 15 leaders in the party who are senior to me. Back with a Bang MANIPUR KILLINGS CBI files five FIRs against security forces EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE @ New Delhi THE Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered five FIRs against security personnel allegedly involved in fake encounters in Manipur between 2002 and 2012. T h e F IR s we re f i l e d against personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force, Assam Rifles and the M a n i p u r P o l i c e. T h e Supreme Court had ordered the CBI to probe the alleged extra-judicial killings. A PIL filed before the SC had alleged that more than 1,500 fake encounters took place in Manipur. The petition had sought a probe by a special investigation team in killings between 2002 and 2012. In July 2017, the SC had constituted an SIT to investigate the matter. In May this year, the apex court had expressed its displeasure with the fact that the Ministry of Defence had not even bothered to respond to the letters addressed to it by the SIT. While a UP Special Task Force (STF) team had gone to Jammu to take custody of Malik, sources said the Army flew him to Delhi, from where he was taken to Meerut for the handover. A Subedar Major and several jawans accompanied Malik. His name figures in the list of the 27 accused in the FIR lodged after the violence. The STF team spotted him after scanning over 200 videos related to the incident. Malik hails from Bulandshahr and was on a 15- SSP shunted out The UP government shifted Bulandshahr SSP Krishna Bahadur Singh to the DGP office in Lucknow on Saturday. SSP, Sitapur, Prabhakar Chaudhary will replace Singh. Apart from Singh, two other police officers have also been transferred day leave, which ended on the day of the violence, so he left for Sopore in Kashmir. Sources said he and his friends were initially watching the mob frenzy before they joined in.
