Kumar said that around 25 lakh of the 33.12 lakh cases involving notices for unmapped voters or logical discrepancies had been resolved. “Our efforts are to ensure that no genuine voter’s name is omitted from the final lists to be published on December 4,” Kumar added. Booth-level officers (BLOs), who are visiting households across 70 Assembly constituencies to address notices issued to voters named in the draft rolls, are also rechecking the cases of those whose names were deleted. Voters left out of the draft rolls can fill out Form 6 to seek inclusion in the final lists. Indian officials pointed out that the country had previously avoided US sanctions despite purchasing the S-400 Triumf missile defence system from Russia under a deal worth more than $5 billion. “Even previously, there was a threat of US sanctions when India bought Russian weapons a few years ago, but we didn’t get sanctions for buying the S-400 Triumf missile system. A gazette notification issued by Registrar General of India Mrityunjay Kumar Narayan said eligible personnel include teachers of government, local authority , and aided or unaided private institutions, as well as clerks and officials of central and state governments, public sector undertakings, banks, companies and trusts. On October 8, Justice Harpreet Singh Brar stayed two Haryana government communications seeking details of available teachers. The case will be heard on April 29, 2027.
