While the Congress accused PM Modi of inaugurating a “half-finished terminal” in haste due to the Lok Sabha polls, the BJP retaliated by saying that the part of Terminal 1 was inaugurated during the UPA government in 2009 and the area inaugurated by Modi remains intact. The Delhi BJP blamed the AAP government for its lackadaisical approach to tackling the water-logging problem. It accused the AAP of not holding meetings on the Summer Action Plan. If Indian fans are looking for some signs from up above, this one is right there, staring you in the face, front and centre. June 25, 1983, was when India won it for the first time (in one dayers), slaying the twotime and defending champions, West Indies. Forty-one years and a few days later, they have the opportunity to end a decade-old drought for global gold. They came close to ending it in the longer formats last year but lost on both occasions to familiar foes, Australia. Standing between them and a second T20 World Cup title (fifth if you want to include the OG version) is South Africa, whose men’s team are in unchartered territory. Man for man, the Indian team come out on top, especially in Caribbean conditions India will be looking to capture their 2nd T20 World Cup title on Saturday where the strips have been low, slow with some grip. But the final in Bridgetown, Barbados, promises to be close for a variety of reasons. There are multiple similarities (a toporder with an out of form opener, one batter who will look to break open the powerplay, one left-arm wrist-spinner, one future Hall of Famer seamer, one decent left-arm pacer...) but the biggest factor is that the South African batters match up well At least one person died and six others sustained injuries after a portion of a canopy at the Delhi airport’s Terminal-1 collapsed, officials said on Friday The deceased has . been identified as Ramesh Kumar (45), a cab driver, while the six injured are Santosh Kumar Yadav (28), Shubham Shah (30), Dashrat Ahirwar (25), Arvind Goswami (34), Sahil Kundan (27) and Yogesh Dhawan (44). DCP (IGIA) Usha Rangnani said the canopy outside Terminal 1 — spanning from Departure Gate No. 1 to Gate No. 2 — collapsed around 5 am. Fire department personnel who rushed to the spot found that a portion of the roof had collapsed on some vehicles in the pick-and-drop area and a few people were trapped. The injured were rushed to Medanta Hospital and then to Safdarjung Hospital where one of them was declared brought dead. Delhi Police lodged a case of death due to negligence and causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others under IPC. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, who rushed to the airport soon after the roof collapse, announced compensation for the victims. Following the incident, all flight operations from the terminal have been halted till further notice. Operations of Spicejet and IndiGo, which primarily operate from the T-1, have been majorly hit. Officials said over 80 flights have been impacted so far. IndiGo said all its flights scheduled from the Delhi Airport till 12 midnight have been cancelled. Flights due to arrive further at T-1 will be diverted either to T-2 or 3, IndiGo said. The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the airport operator, has formed a committee to probe the roof collapse. The DIAL said it was working with DGCA, Bureau of Civil Aviation, CISF, cops and NDRF to restore operations. to the Indian spinners. For India, with multiple generational talents in various points of their career, they want to add a title to further embellish their body of work and to repay the faith their employers have in them. Individual records are great but the primary currency in sport is finishing first in big tournaments. India have let themselves down in this regard. Videos showed Yadav’s staff carrying him on their shoulders to his vehicle as he made his way to Parliament. “I had to do all this to go to Parliament. We came out in a car, after people lifted us to the vehicle,” he said. His bungalow was flooded, causing damage to the flooring, which the MP said, was redone just two days back. Yadav criticised the MCD for inaction. “I spoke to MCD officials at 4 am.” Water Minister Atishi’s residence, too, was flooded, with visuals showing severe waterlogging outside her home. This incident came shortly after she had gone on a hunger strike due to water scarcity in Delhi. Delhi BJP councillor Ravinder Singh Negi conducted a symbolic protest against the AAP government by rowing an inflatable boat on a flooded street. He claimed that the failure to clean the PWD drains before the monsoon led to the severe waterlogging. “All PWD drains are overflowing. They didn’t get them cleaned ahead of the monsoon. This has led to waterlogging,” said Negi, who lives in Vinod Nagar.
