The panel also recommended permitting refund claims even if the returns are filed late. For charitable and not-forprofit entities, the panel suggested replacing ‘receipts’ with ‘income’ for tax purposes, restoring the concept of ‘deemed application’, and providing clearer definitions. Bringing professionals under electronic payment norms, prescribing qualifications for valuers, and ensuring fairness in the application of General Anti-Avoidance Rules were also recommended. DCP, the incident took place when one of the accused—a music teacher identified as U j j aw a l — r e t u r n e d h o m e around 10.30 pm and parked his scooter in front of Asif ’s residence. Asif, 42, asked Ujjawal to remove the scooter, but he refused. When asked again, he started abusing and assaulting Asif. Soon, he was joined by his brother Gautam, who took out a sharp object from his Asif Qureshi trousers and stabbed Asif in the chest multiple times. Ujjawal, 19, is a college dropout, and Gautam, 18, does odd jobs, police said. Gautam was previously involved in crime in Lajpat Nagar. Asif ’s wife, Shaheen, alleged that her husband had been attacked by the brothers in the past too. Asif, who used to supply chicken to restaurants for a living, was saved following the intervention of neighbours. “The incident started around 10.30 pm when we were going to have our dinner. When my husband was being assaulted, I called my brother-inlaw. We rushed Asif to the hospital, but he was dead upon arrival,” she said. Asif ’s uncle and the father of Huma, Saleem Qureshi, termed it a “heinous” crime committed over a trivial matter.
